Installation Issues:
- Q1. Linked2 can be installed on which version of Adobe FM?
- A1. Linked2 can be installed on Adobe FM 8.0 and above.
- Q2. After installing Linked2 plug-in, it doesn’t show up in FM?
- A2. Please follow these steps below if Linked2 doesn’t show up in FM.
- Open Adobe FM.
- Navigate to File->Preferences->Genera.l
- Change Product Interface from FM to Structured FM.
- Exit and Re-start FM.
- Q3. Linked2 Check-in screen doesn’t open after clicking on Check-in in FM?
- A3. Linked2 screen cannot be launched by clicking on Check-in tab in Adobe FM as it is used to check-in existing checked out files. In order to launch Linked2 screen, click on Checkout, Cancel Checkout or Search option.
- Q4. An error message “The latest version of JRE is not installed on your computer. Please download it.” comes while installing Linked2 plug-in?
- A4. The above message is displayed while installing Linked2 when the JRE is not installed on the machine or it has older version of JRE version. Linked2 support latest version of JRE i.e. 1.5 or above. Latest version can be installed from: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
- Q5. An error message “The latest version of .NET Framework is not installed on your computer. Please download it.” comes while installing Linked2 plug-in?
- A5. The above message is displayed while installing Linked2 when the .NET Framework is not installed on the machine or it has older version of .NET Framework. The latest version can be installed from:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5 &displaylang=en.
- Q6. What should we do when following message comes up while installing Linked2 “Adobe FrameMaker is not installed on your computer. Please download it.”?
- A6. The above message is displayed while installing Linked2 when the Adobe FrameMaker is not installed on your machine. Linked2 can be installed on Adobe FM 8.0 or above. Trail version can be installed from following link: http://tryit.adobe.com/us/framemaker/?sdid=EQGMA.

Application/Functional Issues:
- Q7. Not able to Login to Linked2?
- A7. There are two reasons when login can fail:
- 1. Login credentials are not entered properly.
- Verify username and password is entered properly.
- Verify port number and Docbase entered is correct.
- Documentum server is not available.
- 2. Verify Documentum server is running.

- Q8. How do I locate Help file?
- A8. Launch Linked2 and click on “Help” button located on the bottom left corner of the screen. Help button is available in “Checkout,” “Checkin,” “Cancel Checkout” and “Search” tabs.

- Q9. How to check-out a file?
- A9. To checkout a new file follow the steps below:
- Click on Checkout option in the Linked2 menu option of Adobe FrameMaker to check out a file.
- After successful Login, Linked2 window opens with Checkout tab.
- Navigate to the file which needs to checked out using Cabinets/Folders.
- Select the file which needs to be checked out from the Files section.
- Click on Checkout button.
- User can check out the file using three option which will be displayed when clicked on Checkout button.
- All, root and descendents: Parent and children will get checked out.
- Root: Only Parent will get checked out.
- After the file is checked out it would open in Adobe FrameMaker. (Note: At the time of Checkout the copy of the file from the documentum server is made at the location : C:\Documents and Settings\User\Documentum\Checkout).
- User can edit the file that is open in Adobe FrameMaker. After modifying the file user can the check in the modified file using Checkin functionality.
- The checked out file will be locked for other users and a key symbol is displayed be the file in the file section in Checkout screen of Linked2 window.

- Q10. An error message “Check-out failed. Please contact Documentum Administrator” comes up while checking out files.
- A10. The above message comes when the user doesn’t have enough rights to Check-out any file. User needs to have sufficient rights in order to checkout files.
- Q11. An error message, “File is already checked out, you will get a read-only copy of the selected file?” comes up while checking out file.
- A11. The above message comes when the selected file is already checked out by another user. If a file is already checked out by another user then it can only be opened in Read-only format.
- Q12. Why do we see “Lock” image next to the files?
- A12. The “Lock” image is shown to indicate that the file is been checked out by another user.
- Q13. Why do I see “Key” image next to the files?
- A13. The “Key” image is shown to indicate that the file is been checked out by the current logged-in user.

- Q14. How to checkin a new file?
- A14. To checkin a New File follow the steps below:
- Click on Checkin option in Linked2 menu on Adobe FrameMaker.
- After successful Login, Linked window open with Checkin tab.
- Browse to the location of the file which needs to be Checkin by clicking on Browse option. (Note: Select a DITA-XML file as Linked2 application supports Dita Task, Dita Concept, Dita Map and reusability via Conref, Href, Xref).
- Enter the documentum path where the file needs to be stored.
- Click Checkin. Once the file is checked in successfully a message is displayed “Checkin Successfully”.
- Q15. How to checkin an existing file?
- A15. To Checkin an existing Checkout file follow the steps below:
- Click Checkin option from the Linked2 menu in Adobe FrameMaker if a file is already checked out and open in Adobe FrameMaker.
- A popup message will be displayed with the message “File will be closed for Checkin”.
- Click OK to Checkin the file or Cancel not to checkin the file.
- “Checkin Successful” message is displayed after file is checked in successfully.
- File is checked in at the same location on the document server from where the file was checked out.
- (Note: If an already checked out the file is not open in FrameMaker, then we need to follow the same steps as in Checkin a new file).
- Q17. How should I select the Documentum Path as there is no provision to create a folder?
- A17. To select the Documentum Path follow the steps below:
- The user doesn’t have sufficient rights to checkin the file or,
- Input file selected for checkin is not valid.
- Q16. An error message “Check-in failed, please contact Documentum administrator” comes up while checking a file.
- A16. There are two reasons for this:
- Click on the appropriate cabinet in the Cabinets/Folders section.
- Now, add a folder after the cabinet in the following fashion: “Cabinet/New Folder Name”.

- Q18. How to do Simple search?
- A18. User can just enter the keyword and search. Follow the steps below to do a simple search:
- Click on Search option in the Linked2 menu option of Adobe FrameMaker to check out a file.
- After successful Login, Linked2 window opens with Search tab.
- User can enter a Keyword into “Contains” field and click on “Search” button.
- After search is completed list of the files is displayed in the Search Result window.
- Q19. How to do Advance search?
- A19. User can specify location, object type, properties, date, size etc and the search the file.
- Click on Search option in the Linked2 menu option of Adobe FrameMaker to check out a file.
- After successful Login, Linked2 window opens with Search tab.
- User can enter a Keyword into “Contains”, select Object type, specify location and properties etc and click on “Search” button.
- After search is completed list of the files is displayed in the Search Result window.
- User can then select the file and Checkout or View Read Only.
- Q20. An error message “FromDate should be less than ToDate?”
- A20. The above error message is displayed when user has entered From Date greater than ToDate. Once user enters FromDate less then ToDate search result would be displayed.
- Q21. Sometimes “Lock” image next to the files is shown in “Search Results” window?
- A21. The “Lock” image shown on the screen indicates that the file is checked out by another user.
- Q22. “Key” image next to the files is shown in “Search Results” window?
- A22. The “Key” image shown on the screen indicates that the file is checked out by the current logged-in user.
- Q23. An error message, “Check-out failed. Please contact Documentum Administrator” comes up while trying to checkout a fine in Search Results window?
- A23. The above message is shown when the user doesn’t have enough rights to Check-out any file.
- Q24. An error message, “File is already checked out, you will get a Read-Only copy of the selected file” comes up while trying to checkout a file in “Search Results” window?
- A24. The above error message comes up because the selected file is checked out by another user. The current user can only open the file in only View Read-Only mode.
- Q25. Why cannot I see the values for “Summary,” “Ranking” and “Source”?
- A25. Index server may not be installed on the server hence the user cannot see the Values for Summary, Ranking and Source.

- Q26. A message, “Cancel Check-out successful. Do you want to refresh?”
- A26. When a user cancel’s the checkout file above message is shown. The list is not refreshed automatically. After clicking on “Yes” option on the alert message, the list gets refreshed.
- Q27. Key image is shown in the Status column?
- A27. It indicates that the files are in checked out mode.
- Q28. After canceling check out a file, why do I see “Correct” sign in green?
- A28. It indicates that the files are successfully cancel checked out.
- Q29. What does “Documents checked out” grid indicate?
- A29. This grid lists all the files which are in checked out mode. Following columns are shown:

- Document Name
- Select File
- Status

- Q30. What type of files does Linked2 application support?
- A30. Linked2 application supports only DITA-XML file such as DITA Task, DITA Concept, DITA Map and reusability via CONREF, HREF and XREF.

XML Applications:
- Q31. Where are XML applications uploaded or stored?
- A31. XML applications are uploaded or stored at the following location: root/System/Applications/XML Application name.
- Q32. Should I specify <?dctm xml_app="XML Application name" ? > in the sample file?
- A32. It’s not mandatory to specify the above attribute as it will be added programmatically based on the structure of the sample file.
- Q33. If I have the Concept sample file, can I invoke XML Application with other DITA type?
- A33. No, you cannot invoke XML application with other DITA type for Concept sample file.

Documentum Issues:
- Q34. Which version of Documentum server is supported by Linked2 application?
- A34. Linked2 supports currently by Documentum 6.5 and above.
